Henry Ford famously said you can have the Model T in any color you want — as long as it’s black.

Meanwhile, many sweets and snacks companies seem to say: “You can have anything, as long as we can somehow produce it.”

That’s a problem.

Brand dilution, customer confusion, and operational complexity are often less visible than the short-term incremental revenue from product line extensions. This creates a natural bias toward extension — even when it quietly erodes long-term value.

Something to be aware of. And cautious about.
